Imagine Canada, the organization that bolsters the charitable sector in Canada joined Longo Faculty of Business Fundraising Management students to talk about how COVID-19 has impacted charitable programs, services, and funding in Canada. Cathy Barr, VP of Research and Strategic Relationships shared data and insights demonstrating that while many organizations have struggled during this time, especially those in arts and culture, there are others that have benefited from Canadian generosity. As we begin to recover, the challenges will remain as in-person events continue to be impacted, government funding programs come to an end, and uncertainty about the pandemic's trajectory remains.
Faculty and Program Coordinator, Samantha Jones, is excited to be taking on a new volunteer role with Imagine Canada as a peer reviewer for the Imagine Canada Standards accreditation program. The program allows charities to demonstrate excellence through standards in board governance, financial accountability, transparency, fundraising, staff & volunteer engagement. This is an exciting program to be a part of, as the sector is needed more than ever, and these standards help raise the bar for operational excellence.
The charitable and nonprofit sector touches all of us, and Imagine Canada brings a much-needed collective impact approach to advocacy, research, and standards of operation. Imagine has a long history with Humber and the Fundraising Program. Imagine participated in the program's creation more than 20 years ago and has been involved as a resource, speaker, employer, and friend ever since!
