Fundraising Management Postgrad Students Attend Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Congress

Every November, the AFP of Greater Toronto hosts the largest fundraising conference in Canada with over 1000 delegates. Since the Humber Fundraising Postgrad started over 20 years ago, students have attended this event, providing an exceptional opportunity to meet prior graduates, professionals in the sector and hear from a globally recognized roster of speakers. This 3-day experience is a highlight of the postgrad experience, and this year it didn’t disappoint in its online format.

With over 70 speakers, students had the opportunity to learn about;

  • How To Build Extraordinary Relationships in a Hybrid Reality,
  • Building Boards,
  • Bitcoin and the Future of Fundraising,
  • Gen Z and Millennial Donors,
  • Marketing Mental Health,
  • and much, much more.

This intensive experience brought our class together with alumni, friends, and Program Advisory Committee Members that were speaking and sponsoring, including; Paula Attfield (CEO, Stephen Thomas), (Nicole Nakoneshny (Lead Knowledge and Insights at KCI), Tanya Rumble (Director of Development at Ryerson – currently under-going a name change), Jason Shim (Director of Digital Strategy & Transformation, Pathways to Education) and Penny Connors (Executive Director, AFP Greater Toronto).

As the fundraising profession continues to respond to the past 18 months of intensive change, this conference was an ideal setting to connect with the most current knowledge in the charitable sector.
