Yvette Brown, Head of Education at the Bata Shoe Museum and her assistants, gave students in the 20th Century Fashion History course a private tour of two shoe exhibits.
"The Future Now: Virtual Sneakers to Cutting Edge Kicks" and "Obsessed: How Shoes Became Objects of Desire" was a glance forward and back into the fashion system. "The Future Now: Virtual Sneakers to Cutting Edge Kicks" explored over fifty futuristic footwear designs and considered how cutting-edge technologies, unexpected materials, and new ideas are transforming footwear. While the exhibit "Obsessed: How Shoes Became Objects of Desire" featured highly coveted shoes that represent how industrialization drove consumption, transforming footwear designers into celebrities and shoes into high-value collectibles.
The experience was memorable and was the first field trip since the students returned.
