Webinar Series Connects Students to Fashion Industry Professionals

By Vivian Huang

This semester, Fashion Management students virtually hosted and participated in several guest speaker webinars to connect with industry experts.

The guest speakers included SAM & LANCESarah White, and Oliva Mancini - all of whom shared inspiring speeches, insightful career advice and valuable internship opportunities.

SAM & LANCE

On April 5th, Co-Founders Veronica May and Alora May addressed the need for sustainability and green production within fashion. The sisters delved into their industry experiences and discussed the competitive advantages/challenges small-scale brands may face when pursuing green production.

Veronica and Alora were impressed by the students' enthusiasm and professionalism. After the webinar, students Mariana Amesa, Ali Cavanagh and Deepika Batra were selected for an internship offer at SAM and LANCE.

Sarah White

Sarah White, Founder of The Girl Floral, joined students on April 19th to discuss her journey to becoming a successful entrepreneur. Sarah's passion for shopping locally and curated goods focused on eco-conscious, ethical, and sustainable Canadian-based brands helped launch her business.

As an entrepreneur, she is also keen on helping other talented women and co-op students gain practical work experience. Sarah emphasized the importance of networking and introduced students to Style Nine to Five - a Canadian fashion job board website.

Be confident in who you are and what you have to offer."
