Humber Meets The Fashion/Tech Hackathon

Fashion Management postgraduate students, Sana Sapra, Emily Yu and Arushi Gulati packed up and traveled to Kent State University (KSU) in Ohio to participate in a 36-hour event that allows students to create a "technology-enhanced garment or wearable responsive web application".

The Fashion/Tech Hackathon creates an opportunity for students to incorporate technology into fashion and expand on their abilities and capabilities within both fields. Students coming from all over Canada and the United States get to work with the incredible resources KSU has to offer including the TechStyleLab, the Fashion School's Digital Textile Fabrication and the guidance of faculty mentors.

This event demonstrates the value of sustainability and slow fashion as well as the technological advancement that can open so many new doors within the industry.

All of the students came back inspired by their memorable experiences and were proud of what they were able to accomplish in the tight timeframe.
