Due to the constraints on social gatherings, the Fashion Management graduate certificate program's Networking Committee initiated virtual networking events in order to facilitate communication and establish a strong community among students.
Two events were successfully launched with great success. The first event, “Creating Meaningful Connection”, was held on November 20th, 2020, and produced a relaxing environment for the students to converse and get to know each other better. To build upon the relaxing environment, the Networking Committee ordered coffee for students in attendance.
“Back to School” was the second virtual event held on January 28th, 2021. The event aimed to strengthen connections between students while also growing fashion related knowledge through games and competitions. Final prizes were awarded to the winning team as well as the individuals who contributed the most.
Positive and appreciative feedback was received from the students who attended both events.
“Thank you girls for providing the chance so that we can connect! It was so much fun!” - Poppy
“Thank you guys for arranging these events and helping all of us to get to know each other as teammates and friends - not just classmates. Awesome events and games!” - Simran
“ Thank you so much for organizing such a fun-loving event and aiding us to connect in these hard times. This has also helped us refresh our minds and spend quality time with classmates. I hope to meet you all and have the same events in person soon!” - Zennia
With a statistical figure of an average participation rate of 83%, the Networking Committee was proud to announce the success of both virtual events. The events not only effectively helped students connect and enhanced their fashion knowledge, but also added potential value to their professional networks and career development in the near future.
