Fashion Faculty Presents at CSSHE 2021 Conference
Vladimira Steffek and Rossie Kadiyska, Fashion Management faculty, presented at the Canadian Society for the Study of Higher Education conference (CSSHE 2021). The conference was held virtually this year from May 30- June 1.
The theme “Teaching Local Sustainability Through the Lens of Systems Design Thinking” was based on their work on Education for Sustainability and transformative pedagogy used in the Humber virtual classroom.
This work uses the pair's own developed case study on Humber alumna and sustainable denim entrepreneur, Ani Well. The case has been used in a problem-based learning scenario about sustainable denim, led to forming a partnership with a new education institution in Brazil, Senac University, and created WIL opportunities for students following the classroom experience.
The CSSHE presentation focused on the pedagogy and this particular classroom implementation of Education for Sustainability.
