Medjy Mezilus, a Fashion Arts and Business graduate of 2017 had the opportunity to showcase her MeMe Collections in the Big Apple last weekend, during the New York Fashion Week. It was a dream come true for Medjy to be one of the amazing designers hailing from all around the world to be featured at the Couture Fashion Week by Andres Aquino.
Receiving the news to be part of a fashion showcase in one of the biggest fashion cities of the world was quite exciting for Medjy, and equally intimidating. However, Medjy realised that this was an opportunity of a lifetime and took up on it right away. Even though preparing for the show within such a short period of time was quite challenging, Medjy was very ready for the big event..as always.
Medjy arrived in NYC two days before the show for the fittings. After seeing all the models trying the clothes for the show, Medjy admittedly had a revealing and inspiring moment. She reflected on how long and challenged the journey has been in trying to have an IT moment in her fashion career, but now she felt that moment has finally arrived. Medjy says she realises that she still has a long way to go, but the momentum is certainly building towards a very promising future for her and her brand.
As much as Medjy has been in many fashion shows prior, this one was a big deal for her. She said, "It was still unbelievable to see my vision come to life, from professional hair, makeup and how the models graced the runway it was an amazing feeling."
Right after the show, Medjy had the opportunity to do some interviews with different TV networks and magazines, where she had the chance to talk about MeMe Collections and elaborate on what the brand is all about and some upcoming projects. Feeling fulfilled, satisfied and excited about what the future holds, this show in NYC was one to remember for ages and marks as a very significant accomplishment for Medjy.
