On January 31st, students in the Event Management graduate certificate program embarked on an immersive field trip to three key industry organizations in the city: Bespoke Audio Visual Company, Element Event Solutions, and the Aga Khan Museum. The excursion offered students a unique opportunity to witness the intricate process of event planning, from initial concept to final execution, while engaging with leading vendors and suppliers in the field.

The first stop, Bespoke AV Company, provided students with an in-depth look at the technical backbone of event production. The team highlighted the critical role of lighting, sound, and stage design in creating memorable experiences. They also stressed the importance of early collaboration between event planners and technical teams to ensure seamless execution.

Next, the group visited Element Event Solutions, where they observed how rental companies play a pivotal role in transforming blank spaces into dynamic and visually captivating event settings. The team shared valuable insights into the logistics of event design, including material selection, layout planning, and the importance of adhering to tight timelines.

The final destination, the Aga Khan Museum, showcased the versatility of a venue that serves both as a cultural institution and a premier event space. Students were able to explore the complexities of managing a multi-functional space, gaining a deeper understanding of the coordination required to host successful events in such a unique environment.

This field trip not only allowed students to connect with industry professionals but also provided them with practical knowledge and a clearer understanding of the collaborative efforts needed to bring events to life. For some, the experience even led to networking opportunities that could prove valuable for upcoming summer co-op placements.
