Entrepreneurial Enterprise Students Take on Commercial Retail Renewal Challenge: Atrium Toronto Collaboration

Business Management – Entrepreneurial Enterprise students from Humber College's International Graduate School (IGS) enthusiastically embraced the challenge of tackling a pressing concern - the increasing number of vacant offices and reduced foot traffic in the retail area. The students collaborated with Atrium Toronto (formerly known as Atrium on Bay) for their capstone project and worked closely with the General Manager at Triovest, Carrie Ashfield, to strategize solutions for this pertinent issue.

Under the guidance of Cansulta, a management consulting company, the students underwent a 5-week program to acquire and apply management consulting skills. This specialized training was seamlessly integrated into their capstone course, enriching their academic journey and positioning them to excel in future entrepreneurial ventures or make significant contributions to organizations.

Operating in teams, the students competed to present their findings and innovative solutions to Carrie Ashfield and her team. Four groups showcased their proposals to the Triovest team. These proposed solutions encompassed a blend of internal and external changes. Noteworthy ideas included leasing available spaces to businesses seeking office locations within the Atrium, offering mutual benefits to both the community and existing retail establishments. Other suggestions involved relocating an international food market to a spacious vacant area, exploring potential revenue streams through external signage, and enhancing the overall commercial landscape.
