Students Design App Prototype for rxRecourse

By Hanadi Alnawab

Digital Business Management students have been working on designing an app prototype in their BUS 3003 course for rxRecourse, a Canadian fitness business based in Toronto.

The students worked in groups and used MethodKits, an open-ended analog tool that helps discuss, map, plan and prioritize a project. MethodKits aided in the brainstorming process during the exploratory research stage of their project, starting with the MethodKit for App Development in week two, then by MethodKit for Service Design in week three, and finally MethodKit with Human Needs in week four.

The students met with the client and stakeholders to understand the business problem and industry. There were also guest speaker sessions on app development, an introduction to Create with Play, and a hands-on workshop to explore prototype development using the Play app. The workshop was facilitated by Humber’s Faculty of Media and Creative Arts Web Design & Interactive Media Professor David Neumann and one of his UX design students.

Each student group presented their work to the client through recorded presentations, including a demo of their app prototype.
