During the Fall 2023 semester, Bachelor of Commerce – Digital Business Management students embarked on a collaborative venture involving three diverse business concepts: Gen-nection, Mobile Café, and Vital Flavours.
This endeavour bridged three courses from various faculties including:
The Entrepreneurship Fundamentals students conceptualized business ideas, laying the groundwork for potential ventures. Web Development and Media Writing Fundamentals students collaboratively created websites to fortify the online presence of these projects, offering comprehensive information hubs. The business concept, Gen-nection, seeks to foster intergenerational connections, while Vital Flavours caters to meal planning for seniors with tailored dietary meals. Mobile Café aims to deliver a café experience to busy individuals.
AI technology played a pivotal role, with MSCP 1000 and BUS 2504 students leveraging AI tools like Canva and Adobe Express to enhance media content on the websites.
Reflecting on this collaborative effort, students gained valuable insights into teamwork dynamics across various project aspects. "It was a fun and unique experience working and interacting with the various groups associated with completing different aspects of the project," said Zaid Leghari, a Web Development student. "It provided us with a strong understanding of how to collaborate as a team and with every part of the business providing a unique perspective from each group. My group’s experience in making the website was eye-opening in understanding AI tools when creating media. We had to be very descriptive in terms of what we wanted to create with the current form of AI to get accurate images that weren’t distorted."
The culmination of these efforts saw students welcoming guests to share their journey, showcasing their projects, and detailing the collaborative process from ideation to AI-infused media development. This unique experience fostered a comprehensive understanding of collaboration, offering diverse perspectives pivotal for learning.
