On April 24, 2024, talented students demonstrated their skills by competing for the title of Iron Chef in the annual Kraft Heinz Iron Chef competition at Humber College. This year's competitors represented the breadth of Humber's program offerings including Baking and Pastry Arts Management, Culinary Management and Culinary Skills. The students had the opportunity to showcase their learned culinary skills while highlighting various globally inspired cuisines.
A few mandatory ingredients had to be incorporated into their dishes and, on the day of the competition, the teams were asked to incorporate a secret ingredient.
The Chairman and Host of this year's Iron Chef Competition is Thomas Heitz, Corporate Chef of Kraft Heinz.
Kitchen judges include the owner of the Michelin Star restaurant Frilu and Chef John-Vincent Troiano (Humber Alumni) and Humber College's own culinary Instructors Francisco Rivera CCC (Humber Alumni) and George Taluri.
Tasting judges for 2024 are Chef Leslie Cairns, Senior Manager of Culinary Innovation at Aramark Canada, Chef Dustin Gallagher, Executive Chef at Noble House & 416 Snack Bar and Chef Carmelo Vadacchino, Corporate Chef at Food Supplies Inc.
Eight teams comprising of four Culinary Students each will compete for the winning title of the 2024 Kraft- Heinz Humber Culinary Iron Chef Competition.
