Esthetician/Spa Management Grad Excels in Industry

Kaileigh Gunn always had a passion for esthetics and cosmetics. From a young age, she knew she wanted to find a career in this industry. In pursuit of this goal, Kaileigh chose to attend the Humber Business School to attain the knowledge and experience she needed.

Kaileigh graduated from both the Esthetician/Spa Management Diploma program and the Cosmetics Management Diploma program. While attending these two programs, she gained mentoring and hands-on instruction from her instructors. Their guidance, she explains, was invaluable. Many of her teachers work in the industry; their insights, connections and practical lessons were a huge help.

Although she admits she still had a lot to learn, her time at Humber was invaluable in giving her the knowledge and confidence to enter the Cosmetics and Spa industry both feet first: “Both of these programs provided me with the skills I craved,” Kaileigh explains. “I felt confident having a full understanding of how these industries functioned as businesses. When I left Humber, I knew I had the skills and tools to enter my new career successfully.”

Following her time at Humber, Kaileigh started working at MAC Cosmetics, where she held all store level positions, starting as a seasonal employee, and, before she left, as the Operations Manager in one of MAC’s biggest Canadian locations. While working at MAC, she also worked as a contract faculty member in the Esthetician/Spa Management program, mentoring and teaching students much like herself.

Today, Kaileigh is working at Esthetics Plus as the Ontario Territory Manager and Educator. “My role involves maintaining and building existing accounts through education and support with owners, managers, and their teams,” says Kaileigh. “I prospect for new business throughout Ontario, and hold regular trainings for the brands we distribute.”

Along with Kaileigh, Victoria Long, another Esthetician/Spa Management and Cosmetics Management Diploma grad, is also working at Esthetics Plus as the British Columbia Territory Manager. 

Kaileigh's current career has afforded her the best of both worlds - she’s working in an expanding, interesting industry that she loves, while also helping her clients feel good and happy.
