In an inspiring blend of education and community service, Aminat (Nikki) Lawal, a dedicated Cosmetic Management student, has brought a touch of glamour and joy to the residents of Kipling Acres Long Term Care Home. While pursuing her studies, Aminat also works as a Personal Support Worker (PSW) at Kipling Acres, where she saw an opportunity to merge her professional aspirations with her compassionate nature.
Driven by the belief that beauty and self-care can significantly enhance well-being, Aminat approached her manager with a proposal to host a day of beauty for the residents. Her vision was met with enthusiasm, and she quickly enlisted the help of her classmates, Tashi Wangamo and Zahra (Parisa) Sateei. Together, they planned and executed a memorable event. Their dedication and teamwork exemplified the spirit of the Cosmetic Management program - emphasizing technical expertise and a compassionate approach to beauty.
The day of beauty at Kipling Acres was nothing short of transformative. Residents were treated to professional makeup touch-ups, personalized consultations, and step-by-step lessons on makeup application. For many, this was a novel experience, providing a sense of luxury and care that they cherished deeply. The students' attention to detail and warm interactions made the residents feel valued and celebrated.
The event not only benefited the residents but also enriched the students' educational journey. Aminat, Tashi, and Zahra gained practical experience, learning to adapt their skills to different needs and preferences. They also witnessed firsthand the positive influence of their work, reinforcing their passion for the beauty industry and their commitment to enhancing the lives of others.
