Students Gain Insights from Industry Professionals in Digital Marketing and SEO

The Business - Marketing program invited two guest speakers to address students in Digital Marketing and Social Media courses, providing insights and inspiration from experts in the field of digital marketing. The students had the opportunity to hear from a content marketing specialist from Pinterest and a search engine optimization (SEO) professional with over a decade of experience. The guest speakers urged students to develop their skills, be curious and explore the field of digital marketing.

Louisa Clements

Louisa Clements, Digital Marketing Manager for the Americas and APAC at Pinterest shared her path to success, from being a student in the Bachelor of Film and Media Production program at Humber to creating Living Lou, a popular food blog with over 100,000 followers to her current digital marketing role at Pinterest. With over eight years of experience in brand and content roles for business-to-business and business-to-consumer brands in the technology, financial services, and media sectors, Louisa provided students with a glimpse into the world of content marketing and the importance of personal branding.

Mathias Neves

Mathias Neves, an SEO professional with more than ten years of experience in Canada and Brazil, spoke to students about the best practices for SEO and highlighted job-finding strategies. Mathias emphasized the importance of volunteering, particularly for international students seeking Canadian experience and references. He shared how his journey as an SEO specialist started at Humber with an internship at the global digital marketing agency, DAC Group, which led to a full-time position and ultimately made him an SEO expert. Mathias now delves into the technical side of SEO by learning the world of coding.

The guest speakers also provided students with interview tips, job-finding techniques, and answers to questions about digital marketing. They shared their insights into content marketing approaches and SEO strategies, providing the students with a broad understanding of the digital marketing industry.

The event was an opportunity for students to learn from experienced professionals and gain valuable insights into the world of digital marketing. The Business Marketing program expressed its gratitude to Louisa Clements and Mathias Neves for inspiring the students with their journeys.
