Student-led innovation transforms beauty waste into sustainable art.

ReShade, created by the student-led entrepreneurial team Enactus Humber Polytechnic, has been recognized as a national leader in sustainable beauty innovation, earning the 2025 Beauty’s Best Technology Product Award at the annual Beauty’s Best Awards on October 23rd.

The award celebrates excellence across the beauty industry—from products and people to groundbreaking innovations—and ReShade stood out for its visionary approach to tackling one of the industry’s most pressing environmental challenges: cosmetic waste.

Rooted in a commitment to sustainability, ReShade transforms what was once discarded into creative potential. The team repurposes pigments from unused cosmetics to craft artist-grade paint—diverting beauty waste from landfills sparking new conversations about circular design and environmental responsibility.

This recognition celebrates more than a product; it highlights the impact of experiential learning and cross-disciplinary collaboration. The project brings together students from diverse programs united by a shared passion for sustainability, entrepreneurship, and social innovation.

Congratulations to our talented students Aashna Manocha and Suneha Walia, co-presidents; Imann Abella and Zahra Muchhala, past presidents; and all the Enactus Humber students who have contributed to ReShade’s growth and success over the past two years.

Their work continues to position Humber Polytechnic as a leader in sustainability-driven entrepreneurship and circular-economy innovation.

ReShade’s win also added a creative dimension to the Beauty’s Best Awards event, where guests were invited to collaborate on a mural designed by Christina Dozak, a Humber Polytechnic Fine Studio Arts graduate. The mural was painted using ReShade paints made from repurposed cosmetics generously provided by Groupe Marcelle.

Special appreciation is extended to Frank Turco from Cosmetics Alliance Canada for providing the platform to showcase ReShade’s work. Gratitude also goes to Dr. Ann Marie Vaughan, whose unwavering support continues to champion student innovation; to Tyler Charlebois, whose encouragement and enthusiasm have been constant sources of motivation; and to Harpreet Sandhu, Faculty Advisor, whose insight and mentorship have guided the team every step of the way and Dr. Linda Jin-Troendle, for your belief that Enactus Humber Polytechnic could achieve great things.

Finally, sincere thanks to the Enactus Humber Board of Advisors — Saeed Zeinali, Kunal Bajaj, Brent Stirling, and Jeremy Laurin — for their continued guidance and commitment to empowering student innovators.

ReShade exemplifies what’s possible when sustainability, creativity, and collaboration intersect—and how Humber Polytechnic students are leading meaningful change across industries.
