Now working in the finance field, Business Administration alumnus Camilo Abuabara speaks about his career success and how choosing an education at Humber helped ignite his passion for business.
Camilo Abuabara, Graduating Class of 2015
I began my Humber experience in 2012, working towards a Business Administration advanced diploma. After graduating in 2015, I decided to further my education by transferring to Guelph-Humber University to pursue an undergraduate degree in Business Administration. Shortly after graduating in 2017, I began to obtain my CPA (Chartered Professional Accountant) designation.
Currently, I have clear career goals and know what I need to do to get there - but that wasn't always the case. Graduating high school was an overwhelming experience because, like many, I had no idea what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. Initially, as a Humber student, I didn't know what to expect but looking back now, attending Humber was the best choice I could have made. Humber provided the tools and guidance I needed in order to start my career and thrive in it. The hands-on curriculum consistently challenged me and ignited a passion for business that I never knew I had. With a new passion, motivation and a lot of hard work, I had the pleasure of appearing on the dean’s list every year and graduated with distinction. I also had the privilege of receiving the Hank Beddard Award for Excellence in Finance.
“Camilo was a diligent student. He was the first to offer answers to open-ended questions, support other students and actively participate during classes,” says Maria Racanelli, Business Administration Program Coordinator. "It is no surprise that Camilo is working in the finance field for the Toronto Transit Commission’s Capital Accounting Department as the Capital Contracts and Inventory Clerk,” states Racanelli.
Without the help of knowledgeable, experienced and caring professors, I would not be where I am today. Every day I apply skills Humber has taught me in order to continue growing professionally and cannot thank Humber enough for getting me where I am today!
Congratulations to Camillo and much-continued success.
