Paralegal Studies Graduate to Attend Law School at Queen's University

Class of 2019 Bachelor of Paralegal Studies degree graduate Melanie Dekoker was accepted for admission to Law School at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario. Melanie Dekoker will be the first Paralegal Studies degree graduate to attend the JD program at Queen's Faculty of Law.

Melanie graduated with a program GPA of 85.4% and co-authored an important article on "Improved Access to Justice for the Wrongly Convicted", which was published in the 2019 Edition of the Humber Journal of Paralegal Access to Justice (Thomson Reuters Canada). For the past two years, she has worked as a Legal Assistant with practice areas in environmental tax, financial restructuring and corporate law at Davies Ward Phillips & Vineberg - one of Canada's leading law firms.

"The Paralegal Degree program was more than I expected and an important step in my Legal Assistant position at Davies and my acceptance at Queen’s University," said Melanie. "I feel more comfortable entering into law school knowing the foundation I have been provided and the experience I have gained at Davies."
