Anjani Rathee, a 2023 honours graduate of the Bachelor of Paralegal Studies program was hired as a Policy Analyst with the Public Health Agency of Canada. Anjani performed her field placement with the Federal Crown Agency prior to being hired on a full-time basis. She assisted in litigation for the Centre for Biosecurity and Regulatory Affairs and handled the tracking of ongoing litigation for the Government of Canada. The Public Health Agency is responsible for emergency preparedness and response and for infectious and chronic disease control relating to the COVID-19 pandemic. As a Policy Analyst, Anjani will be preparing a background memorandum for cabinet review.
Anjani excelled in the Paralegal Studies program, achieving a GPA of 89% in her fourth year. She was a Senior Peer Mentor planning online and in-person events, and providing support for Peer Mentors in their engagement activities with first-year students. She has also contributed an important paper on "Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women: A Forgotten Access to Justice Issue" to be featured in the 2023 Edition of the Journal of Paralegal Access to Justice, published by Emond Publishers.
Anjani's story serves as an example of how a commitment to justice, and a passion for making a difference can lead to remarkable opportunities. As she steps into this new role, we can only anticipate the positive influence she will have on public health policies and her continued dedication to addressing important societal issues.
