Paramroop Kaur, a 2018 honours graduate of the Paralegal Studies degree program, is set to embark on the next chapter of her legal career at Coventry University Law School in the United Kingdom. Paramroop’s journey in the legal field has been marked by dedication, professional growth, and a commitment to justice.
During her time in the Paralegal Studies program, Paramroop completed her field placement as an Immigration Law Clerk at Vialto Partners LLP, a firm specializing in tax and immigration services. Her exceptional performance led to her promotion to Immigration Case Manager upon graduation, where she supervised a team of caseworkers, managed daily operations, and oversaw complex immigration petitions for global clients. Her work ensured compliance with regulatory requirements and deadlines, showcasing her expertise and leadership in the field.
Reflecting on her decision to pursue a law degree at Coventry University, Paramroop shared a thoughtful and inspiring account of her journey:
"Justice is truth in action." This quote from Benjamin Disraeli has always struck a chord with me and influenced my legal career. I have worked in immigration law and litigation assistance for more than eight years, so my decision to pursue an LLB was not just an academic one but also a commitment to expanding my knowledge and influence.
As I worked through challenging legal matters and fought for people whose voices were frequently ignored, my enthusiasm for law developed gradually rather than all at once. I have seen directly how legal knowledge can change lives when working closely with clients who are facing immigration issues. But I also understood that experience without a proper legal degree has its limitations. To close this gap, I looked for a school that would foster both intellectual development and practical excellence in addition to honing my abilities.
Coventry University was the best option. It provided exactly what I was looking for, with a dynamic, varied academic atmosphere, a great faculty, and a strong emphasis on real-world application. I felt that this was the right place to hone my legal knowledge while maintaining a strong foundation for my career goals because of the university's emphasis on experiential learning and the availability of a strong legal network.
With a sense of purpose and resolve, I set off on this academic quest. The law is an instrument for justice and a process for change; it is more than just statutes and precedents. My goal at Coventry University is to develop into a legal expert who can make a difference, not only to obtain a degree.
As Aristotle once sagely observed, "At his best, man is the noblest of all animals; separated from law and justice, he is the worst." I'm here to make sure justice is served."
Paramroop also expressed her gratitude to Paralegal Studies Program Coordinator, Bernie Aron, for his mentorship and support:
