Paralegal Studies Graduate Accepted to Thompson Rivers University Law School

Anjani Rathee, a 2023 graduate of the Bachelor of Paralegal Studies program, has been accepted to the Faculty of Law at Thompson Rivers University (TRU) in Kamloops, British Columbia. TRU Law is known for its focus on improving access to justice and legal services, particularly for Indigenous peoples and underserved communities.

During her time in the Paralegal Studies program, Anjani contributed to this mission through her article “Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls: A Forgotten Access to Justice Issue,” published in the 2023 edition of Humber’s Journal of Paralegal Access to Justice, produced in partnership with Emond Publishers.

For her field placement, Anjani worked as a Paralegal Intern with the Public Health Agency of Canada. Her work included monitoring court and tribunal decisions related to public health, including COVID-19 vaccination policy cases. After graduating, she continued her work with the agency as a Policy Analyst, where she advised stakeholders and management on amendments to health legislation and provided recommendations to management regarding Access to Information and Privacy Act (AIPA) requests.

Anjani expressed her gratitude for the guidance and mentorship provided by Professor Jasteena Dhillon and the Paralegal Studies Program Coordinator, Bernard Aron. She credits their teaching and support as instrumental to her success and is honoured to be inspired by such talented professionals in the legal field. Anjani also joined the Editorial Board of the Journal of Paralegal Access to Justice, contributing to a platform that gives voice to paralegal students, graduates, and licensed professionals on issues related to legal equity and inclusion.
