Yasaman Ilaghi-Hosseini, a 2023 graduate of the Bachelor of Paralegal Studies program, has been accepted into the PhD program in Communication and Culture at York University. Her research will focus on the intersection of artificial intelligence (AI) with key societal issues such as privacy, surveillance, and education, with the goal of developing ethical protocols for the responsible use of AI in these areas.
Yasaman is completing the full-time, two-year Master of Arts in Communication and Culture at Toronto Metropolitan University—a joint program with York University—where she has specialized in Media and Culture. During her time at Humber, she was actively engaged as a tutor in liberal studies courses, including Race, Gender, and the Digital Era, and contributed to research on human rights topics such as LGBTQ+ rights, Indigenous rights, and women’s rights.
Her article, "Rainbow Refugees: An Analysis of Access to Justice Issues Faced by LGBTQ+ Refugee Claimants", was published in the 2023 edition of the Journal of Access to Justice, produced by Emond Publishers.
Yasaman aspires to pursue a teaching career at the polytechnic level, where she can share her academic and research expertise with future students.
