Aluat Lual, a 2021 graduate of the Paralegal Studies degree program, has been accepted into the Master of Arts in Public Administration and Public and International Affairs program at the University of Ottawa. Her studies will focus on 'Cybersecurity and Global Threats'.
During her time at Humber Polytechnic, Aluat gained valuable experience as a Paralegal student intern with the Tax Law Services Division of the Department of Justice Canada. In this role, she honed her skills in legal research, document review using eDiscovery software, and assisting counsel with tax appeals in the Tax Court of Canada.
Upon graduation, Aluat transitioned to the role of Legal Assistant with the Litigation, Extradition, and Advisory Division of the Department of Justice Canada in Toronto. There, she managed a wide range of legal and administrative documents, ensuring compliance with departmental policies and court procedural rules, including time limitation requirements.
For the past six months, Aluat has been contributing her expertise as a Legal Assistant with the International Assistance Group (IAG) in Ottawa. The IAG oversees extradition and mutual legal assistance requests, and in this capacity, Aluat has played a key role in facilitating communication between legal professionals, clients, and external organizations. She has also conducted in-depth legal research, analyzing legislation and jurisprudence to support the work of her colleagues.
Aluat’s acceptance into the University of Ottawa’s Master’s program is a testament to her dedication, hard work, and the strong foundation she built during her time at Humber. Congratulations to Aluat on this achievement!
