Luan Huynh, a 2017 honours graduate of the Bachelor of Paralegal Studies program, has been named Registrar of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario (IPC). In his new role, Luan delegates to assess and manage appeals and privacy complaints according to established policies. His duties include interpreting relevant legislation and applying legal precedents to determine whether the appeals and privacy complaints are within the jurisdiction of the IPC.
Before this appointment, Luan worked as a Mediator with the IPC, focusing on resolving disputes and facilitating settlements. His journey in law began in the Paralegal Studies program as a Paralegal intern with the Tax Law Services Section of the Department of Justice Canada. In this capacity, Luan conducted legal research in respect of appeals under the Income Tax Act and the Excise Tax Act. He also provided support for litigation teams in analyzing the evidence as part of trial preparation.
Expressing gratitude for his time at Humber, Huynh stated, "The program has provided me with many opportunities in my career, and I am truly grateful."
