The Landlord's Self-Help Centre (LSHC) made a virtual presentation to Bachelor of Paralegal Studies students on March 22nd. The presentation aimed to educate the students about the legal clinic's roles in aiding small landlords across Ontario. Nathalia Debski, Ender Joseph, and Diana Padierna, all licensed paralegals and full-time employees at LSHC, delivered the presentation.
The three representatives provided practical advice for a career as a paralegal. They stressed the importance of staying organized, being prepared, reviewing material carefully, keeping an open mind, and networking within the legal community.
Diana Padierna, a Bachelor of Paralegal Studies alumna, shared her experience with the Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) Centre. She spoke about securing a position as a placement student at LSHC in the summer of 2016 and her positive experience with the organization. Padierna was able to continue her employment with LSHC beyond graduation and currently holds the position of Community Legal Worker for the clinic.
The virtual presentation by LSHC provided valuable insights into the roles of a legal clinic that aids small landlords in Ontario. The advice provided by the representatives will help Paralegal students prepare for their future careers in the legal industry.
