The Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) Centre welcomed Robert Upward, a Humber alumnus and Worker Adviser with the Office of the Worker Adviser (OWA), to engage with students in the Bachelor of Paralegal Studies program. The OWA, an independent agency under Ontario's Ministry of Labour, provides free and confidential services related to workplace insurance.

Robert, who has been with the OWA for two years, shared valuable insights into his role and the agency’s work, highlighting opportunities for field placements and entry-level positions. He credited his Placement Advisor, Mary Anne Myers, for helping him secure a field placement with the City of Brampton in 2021, which paved the way for his current position.

During the session, students participated in dynamic discussions on the paralegal profession, the hiring process, and the scope of duties in upcoming opportunities.

This interactive session provided students with a deeper understanding of their potential career paths in the field.
