Nestlé Canada

With 14 dedicated foodservice factories and 10,000 employees in 90 countries (including 100 chefs), Nestlé Professional is part of the world’s largest food and beverage company. Whether used in the back of the house or the front of the house, Nestlé Professional brands and products are trusted by customers and operators around the world.

Dedicated to delivering creative and innovative food and beverage solutions to foodservice professionals across Canada, Nestlé Professional recently solidified its commitment to Humber College’s culinary students by extending its current relationship and embarking on an extended three-year strategic partnership program. The comprehensive partnership is designed to provide students a wide variety of resources while giving them the opportunity to discover how this exciting and innovative brand provides foodservice operators with real-world solutions to meet unique business challenges, while satisfying the tastes of Canadian consumers.

From creative and on-trend culinary offerings from its STOUFFER’S®, MAGGI®, TRIO® and Joseph’s Gourmet Pasta® brands, to innovative beverage offerings under the NESCAFÉ® and COFFEE-MATE® brands, among others, Nestlé Professional is committed to enabling both current and operators of the future – like those found at Humber College – to innovate and delight in the kitchen.

The Nestlé Professional MINOR’S® family of products, the marquis brand in this new partnership, encompasses a selection of premium bases and flavour concentrates that provide chefs with the foundations they need to create and personalize dishes that are delicious, authentic and unique. From up-and-coming to more seasoned chefs, MINOR’S products are a kitchen staple that provide chefs with the tools they need to create high quality, flavourful meals, despite the challenges of working in today’s time-crunched kitchens.

The extended partnership kicked-off in the fall when Chef Adam Cowan, Corporate Chef for Nestlé Professional Canada, awarded the 2012 Nestlé Professional MINOR’S Top Chef Award to Hak Jin Kim, a second-year Humber College Culinary Management student entering his final year of the culinary program. The Award was granted based Hak Jin Kim’s leadership within the classroom, participation in school activities and events, overall commitment to the program and good academic standing.

In addition to Nestlé Professional’s annual awards program, the partnership also marks the creation of a new annual student competition, which will challenge first and second year students to demonstrate their culinary skills and creativity while incorporating a MINOR’S product into their recipe. More details will follow, so stay tuned!

Culinary students should also keep an eye out for Chef Cowan, who will available to share his insight and experience– whether through internship opportunities, classroom presentations or guest lectures with Humber’s student culinary club.

Nestlé Professional looks forward to supporting Humber College students throughout the next three years and beyond.
