Turning Passion into a Plan: Longo CfE Support Fuels Music Entrepreneur’s Success

Tony Rosenberg, a graduate of Humber’s Bachelor of Music program, won first place in the Longo Centre for Entrepreneurship’s 2022 BMO Launch Me Competition. Since then, he has been building a career that blends creativity and business, composing and producing original music for a variety of media while navigating the industry as an entrepreneur. His debut EP, Apricot Jam, is set to launch in July 2025.
In Tony’s own words, here’s how his journey unfolded, and how the Longo CfE helped turn his artistic vision into a viable career path:
To work as a musician, you have to run your own business. I knew the skills of entrepreneurship were something I needed. By the time I switched my primary focus to composing and producing, I began attending events at the Longo Centre for Entrepreneurship.
While my music career began as only a saxophone player, my newfound mission was to reach as many people through music as possible, via any medium or format. I wish to be the soundtrack to people's lives. Since graduating, I have had the opportunity to compose and produce music for television, independent theatre productions, advertisements, grant-funded films, and indie video games.
The Longo CfE helped fill the gap between my goals and my previous experience. Writing a business plan and reviewing it with mentors provided by the Longo CfE allowed me to fully articulate my ideas and create a strategy I could stick to. By being taught how to strategize long-term, I was able to create actionable steps towards my goals. Working with my mentor and the Longo CfE, I developed the skills to see my creative ideas through a business-oriented lens, a skillset that isn’t necessarily covered in a traditional arts education. This forced me to clarify my vision and the path I would take to expand my work.
Today, my original music has steadily increased year over year in reaching more people. In July 2025, I will be releasing my debut EP titled ‘Apricot Jam'. It will be available on Spotify/Apple and all other streaming platforms.
The support and resources of the Longo CfE and the BMO Launch Me program have helped immensely. Their desire to train new entrepreneurs has made a huge impact on my career. I encourage everyone to take advantage of what the Longo CfE can provide for them.
