Longo Faculty of Business Celebrates Student Success

The annual Scholarship Celebration was held on February 4th at the Barrett CTI, with over 200 students, faculty, staff and donors in attendance. The event celebrated the achievements of students across the Longo Faculty of Business and recognized the generosity of donors who provided scholarships.

This year’s event included a reception where guests mingled and took part in photo booth festivities. This was followed by a seated dinner where donors and students had an opportunity to get to know eachother and discuss the impact of scholarships on an educational journey.

Alvina Cassiani, Senior Dean of the Longo Faculty of Business, and Chris Whitaker, president and CEO, provided remarks and expressed their gratitude for the support offered by Humber’s donors. Patricia, a current student, and recipient of the Humber Board of Governors Scholarship and Eric Mundinger Award, also spoke. “This scholarship not only helps me financially, which means a lot – it also motivates me to continue to do my best in all I do. It lets me know that I am not alone and that there are people like you who care and support student success. I hope to one day be on the other side, helping others as you are doing today," said Patricia.

The contributions of Humber’s dedicated faculty and staff were also recognized, with tributes to Kathryn Filsinger, recipient of the Distinguished Faculty Award and Grace Regala, recipient of the Distinguished Support Staff Award. Kathryn is the Professor of the Human Resources Management program and was recognized for bringing a sense of community and belonging through a supportive and collaborative environment in her classroom. In addition to being always approachable and taking the time out of her busy schedule to help, collaborate or mentor her students. Grace, the Retail Operations Assistant of Gourmet Express was recognized for her reliability, compassion and the efficiency she brings as the operations of Gourmet Express. She is always willing to learn new skills and works closely with everyone.

Longo Faculty of Business is grateful to its donors, faculty, and staff for their commitment to students, and applauds the incredible accomplishments of the talented scholarship recipients.
