Upon graduation from the Marketing Degree, grads will earn an SAS Certificate in Marketing Analytics. This is very exciting news as now The Longo Faculty of Business is the only Polytechnic Degree in Ontario to have this type of certification. MaryJo Tullo, a Bachelor of Commerce student, won 2nd Place Finalist at DECA's International Career Development Conference in Marketing Management.
In the Marketing Management competition, students are challenged with analyzing a real-world case study situation involving marketing and/or management. Environments may include but are not limited to, place/location marketing, transportation marketing, charity/event marketing, marketing research, strategic marketing planning, distribution strategies, target marketing and Internet marketing.

Marketing Diploma Students Present Vena Solutions

Students in the Marketing Diploma program presented their design campaigns to Marketing Directors of Vena Solutions.
In the final weeks of the fall 2018 semester, students from the Creative Design Applications course (MKTG 208) in the Marketing Diploma program grabbed the opportunity to present their design campaigns to Marketing Directors of Vena Solutions. The students used Adobe Creative Cloud applications to create a Landing Page, a LinkedIn Ad, a brochure and an Email Template. They were able to promote the functionality of the company’s services, participate in experiential learning by presenting to industry professionals and share creative ideas on how the company should be positioned in the market. Vena Solutions representatives gave students feedback on ways to improve their designs but left with stimulating ideas from our students to share with their respective Marketing teams.

Business Grad Accepted into Masters Program at Ryerson

Irina Gorea, a Business School grad, has been accepted to the Masters of Science in Management program at Ryerson University.
In 2013, shortly after moving to Canada from Romania, Irina enrolled into Humber's Business - Marketing Diploma, and, after completing the diploma program, enrolled in and completed the Bachelors of Commerce - Digital Business Management program. Through most of her educational journey, Irina has been balancing her studies with a full-time job. Currently, Irina works remotely at a local marketing agency as a marketing manager. In fact, the company she works for is where she completed her diploma program internship.
"Going to Humber and working at the same time has taught me how important it is to be self-motivated and how many great things you can achieve by organizing your time and working hard to achieve your goals," says Irina. "The biggest life lesson I learned at Humber is to never be afraid to try new things and face your fears."
With her combined career experience and education, Irina's goal is to be a professor and researcher in a marketing related specialization.

International Business and Marketing Degree Job Market Panel

A Job Market Panel was hosted by the International Business and Marketing degree programs, in collaboration with The Business School Placement Centre.
The event was well attended by students from the International Business, Marketing and Digital Business Management Degree programs, as well as faculty and staff from various departments around Humber College. The Job Market Panel of six individuals was represented by industry professionals, Program Advisory Committee members, and Humber alumni from the International Business and Marketing Degree programs.
Kicking-off with a brief introduction by members of the panel, the topics of conversation included career development, industry trends, and value creation. The students then posed industry and job-specific questions to members of the panel. Their responses were insightful and well received by the engaged and curious students. The event concluded by breaking out into a networking opportunity for the attending students.
Marketing Students Win Bronze Medal in Big Data Hackathon Competition

Marketing Degree students Adam Berg, Danielle Tellier and Nicole Teixeira placed 3rd in the Big Data Hackathon 2018 Competition at Ryerson University.
The competition is sponsored by Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Development and SAS. The students were competing with other post-grad students and demonstrated their strong data analytics, data visualization, team building and presentation skills throughout the competition. Congratulation to the team on their success. We are looking forward to next year’s competition.
Marketing Students Visit Miele Canada Headquarters in Preparation of Capstone Project

This January, Marketing, Bachelor of Commerce students visited the Miele headquarters in preparation for their marketing capstone project.
Taught by Dr. Youssef Youssef, two teams will be working on a strategic marketing plan for Miele Canada, aiming to increase Miele’s market share in the Canadian market.
Miele is a German-based manufacturer of high-end electro domestic appliances and commercial equipment. The company was founded in 1899, and has always been a family owned and run company.Today, in North America, Miele is marketed as a high-end major appliance brand. The students were warmly received by Mr. Yves Dalcort, President of Miele Canada, Mr. Nelson Fresco, Vice President, Mr. Marco Distler, Director, Miele Retail, and Mr. Alan Le, Marketing Analytics manager.
During the visit, the students were introduced to Miele’s Business Model as well as to Miele’s products and services. After a visit to the Miele showroom, the students participated in a brainstorming session with Miele’s executive team on the results of the brand audit conducted by the students.
In the coming weeks, the two teams will be hard at work devising their strategy. They will then present their strategy to Miele’s Marketing team, as well as Miele’s Global CEO. This is a very exciting opportunity for our students and we wish them the best of luck as they work on what are sure to be excellent strategies.
The Business School Hosts the Humber College Marketing Competition

The Business School decided to host our very own Humber College Marketing Competition in place of the Ontario Colleges Marketing Competition.
