With a collaborative effort from CPA Ontario, the Humber Accounting Association, and the Work-Integrated Learning Center, accounting students participated in a successful webinar on how to network effectively.
The session was held on October 15th and encouraged students to be authentic, prepared, and purposefully build and maintain their network of contacts. The “elevator pitch”, digital networking etiquette, using social media, and managing expectations were just some of the many topics covered throughout the evening.
The hosts shared stories about their networking challenges and successes, which engaged students to ask questions, share their experiences, and build their confidence. Students registered with the CPA were encouraged to attend future events to practice some of the techniques taught during the networking webinar.
The students gained a new appreciation for the importance of networking in building career opportunities.
An upcoming CPA networking event is scheduled for November 26th and will be attended by employer guests. This promises to be a great opportunity for accounting students to practice networking skills!
