Marketing Professor Michael Dover has made a significant contribution to the field of energy interoperability with his latest white paper, titled "Open Source and Energy Interoperability." This pivotal research, developed in collaboration with the Linux Foundation and Natural Resources Canada, sheds light on crucial aspects of modernizing the Canadian energy grid.
The white paper delves into the challenges and opportunities surrounding energy grid interoperability. Conducted for Natural Resources Canada, the study draws from interviews with 17 experts specializing in energy grid modernization. It addresses the primary reasons for harmonizing the grid and identifies key barriers to interoperability, including communication, data sharing, privacy, and security.
Professor Dover’s research provides a comprehensive analysis of how the adoption of open-source standards can address these challenges. The white paper also highlights case studies where open-source solutions have successfully led to more sustainable and effective energy utility projects.
This publication marks a significant step forward in understanding and improving energy interoperability, offering valuable insights for policymakers, industry professionals, and researchers alike.
