HLOs:
This past summer, the Longo Incubator (LInc) served as a powerful launchpad for Humber and Guelph-Humber student entrepreneurs. Over four months, participants transformed their ideas into viable ventures by working closely with mentors, testing prototypes, and gathering real customer feedback.
In addition to mentorship and weekly workshops, students joined a cross-cultural series with peers from Saxion University’s Centrum voor Ondernemerschap in the Netherlands and industry experts. Together, they tackled barriers in women’s entrepreneurship, built cultural awareness, a global mindset, and discovered how diversity drives innovation.
Reflecting on her experience, participant Amaka Genevieve Jane Awa shared: “The concept of business I had before was completely different from what I learned during the workshop. I am grateful for this experience, as it has given me a better understanding of what starting a business entails. I now feel more equipped to create and develop new ideas based on this newfound knowledge.”
By the end of the program, participants had strengthened their business models, sharpened their strategies, and built a supportive international network. They now have the tools to pursue opportunities such as the BMO Launch Me Competition, where they can compete for up to $15,000.
Applications for the BMO Launch Me Workshop are open to all students and alumni who have graduated within the past two years.
