This fall, the Longo Faculty of Business offered three groups of students a series of enriching cultural excursions across Toronto.
Students from the Indonesian International Student Mobility Awards (IISMA) program, along with exchange students from the National Kaohsiung University of Hospitality and Tourism (NKUHT) in Taiwan, kicked off their experience with a visit to Little Canada, where they discovered miniature models of the country’s most iconic landmarks. The excursion also served as an introduction to Toronto’s public transportation system, which the students navigated with ease.
In September, the students enjoyed an apple-picking adventure and a shopping trip at an outlet mall in Milton. Later that month, they joined fellow Humber Global exchange students for a memorable visit to Niagara Falls, with the natural wonder captivating all and the experience of travelling on a yellow school bus for the first time.
October brought even more cultural immersion, with the students attending their first Canadian Thanksgiving celebration at the Old Mill, an event many had only previously seen in movies. The Halloween festivities at Casa Loma, transformed into a haunted house, marked another first as students explored the historic grounds in full costume.
Looking ahead, the students will stay closer to home in November with a historic tunnel tour at Humber’s Lakeshore campus and a visit to Toronto’s Distillery District to celebrate the holiday season before many return to their home countries in December.
