IGNITE Changemakers Hackathon Empowers Student Advocacy

In early November, the Longo Centre for Entrepreneurship (CfE) hosted the Campus Changemakers Hackathon and Challenge at the Barrett Centre for Technology Innovation. Organized in collaboration with IGNITE, Experience Ventures, and the Government of Canada, the event attracted over 200 applicants eager to influence decision-making processes and develop innovative student advocacy plans.
Participants formed teams, working alongside mentors to craft effective engagement strategies. The event included workshops, personalized coaching sessions with the Longo CfE team, and guidance from external mentors to help refine their ideas.
Teams presented their proposals through video pitches, competing for cash prizes ranging from $325 to $650. The "Dream Team" of Hoang Tran, Qiaoli Yan, Sakshan Sharma, and Muriel Gete took top honours for their outstanding innovation.
