Humber OCMC Stands-Out at OCMC 2021

OCMC 2021 Reimagined

Ontario Colleges’ Marketing Competition (OCMC) is an annual competition that this year went online, spearheaded, and hosted by Humber College. While many worked tirelessly to make this province-wide event happen, a special shoutout goes to Ellen Sparling, Christine McCaw, Shawn Richards, Shaina Ellis, Pete Weinzettl, Nicole Chuchmach (and several of her event planning students and volunteers), who ensured its success - and to Steven Lorini who corralled sponsorship to make it financially possible. To all who made it happen, wrote the cases, judged the competition, ran the social media, audited the event, and stick-handled the technology, we appreciate your efforts that went above and beyond.

Humber College’s Outstanding Results

The competition is organized into three main categories, (1) Quiz Bowl, (2) Team Cases, and (3) Individual events. Humber College’s results on the first day were outstanding with a first-place finish in Quiz Bowl - congratulations to all the students and coaches! Team spirit soared within the Humber OCMC team with a WhatsApp group virtually cheering-on participants and social media applauding and encouraging the teams. Thank you Phoebe Thanh Mai Tran, our Humber OCMC social media intern and member of the team, for running the top-notch social media throughout this semester.

Results in the Team Case categories were also very strong with a first-place finish for Humber College in the retail category, a second-place ranking in the marketing category, a fourth-place position in the international category, and a fifth-place finish for the marketing research team. Well done to all students and their coaches! Finally, the individual events saw excellent results with a first-place finish in the job interview category and a third-place finish in the sales presentation group. Congrats to the students and their coaches! To all students and coaches in the Humber OCMC team a thank you from the Business Marketing program for all your hard work, efforts, and team spirit. A job well done and much appreciated!
