Humber Leads The Food Insecurity Project

Since the start of the pandemic in mid-March, the amount of Canadians facing food insecurity has increased at an alarming rate, and the economic pressures facing our most vulnerable population have been exasperated.

Chefs John Placko and Keith Hoare have been working with a host of hospitality industry partners - donating products, meals, and baked goods that have been redistributed to food banks and shelters.

"We have been so grateful to one of our biggest partners, Humber College. The Humber culinary and baking programs have contributed tons of food, (and continue to contribute weekly) to our shelter dinner and food bank project," said Chef Keith Hoare.

Humber is working on a grant proposal that will help ensure that they can continue their food donation program during these trying times.

Thank you to Gill Dugas and her team at the Etobicoke Rotarians and Kiwanis Clubs for providing additional distribution assistance and donations.
