HLOs:
By Nathalie Gomez, Humber Styles - Fashion Squad Lead and Bachelor of Commerce – Fashion Management student
On March 27, Humber’s Fashion Squad brought its signature Dress4Success workshop to life for over 200 Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB) students at a Humber-hosted STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and math) Day event—delivering career readiness and confidence-building through fashion.
Led by five upper-year Fashion Management students—Nathalie Gomez, Layla Li, Sofia Sciabbarrasi, Logan Lobb-Macdonald, and Kitty Wang—the interactive session focused on professional attire, personal branding, and interview preparation. More than 25 high school students participated in the specialized breakout session, gaining valuable insights into the role of appearance and communication in career development.
“The school board was amazed with the confidence and enthusiasm of the workshop leads. They loved the Dress4Success session,” shared one TCDSB educator, praising the student facilitators for their professionalism and poise.
Throughout the day, the Humber team also introduced students to the Fashion Management programs, sharing project samples and engaging in one-on-one conversations about pathways into the fashion industry.
The event highlighted the impact of hands-on learning and community engagement—key pillars of the Humber experience. Supported by Associate Dean Bruce Sinclair (Business Marketing, Fashion and Beauty), the initiative demonstrated how the Fashion Squad integrates career-focused skills with real-world application.
Since its inception in 2019, Humber’s Fashion Squad has delivered over 50 Dress4Success workshops, reaching more than 1,000 students across the Greater Toronto Area. The initiative thrives with the continued support of Humber’s Community Partnerships team, including Nabeel Rahman, Community & Partnership Development Manager, and Lynn VanLieshout, Community Projects Manager.
This collaboration with TCDSB was made possible thanks to the leadership of Tania Carducci and the Barrett Centre for Technology and Innovation's (CTI) Business and project managers, Jener Gurrea and Louise Hoshiba Schuch.
