Fall Hackathon Showcases Student Ingenuity

In a display of creativity and dedication, participants showcased their incredible ideas and hard work during this Fall's Hackathon event, held from September 23rd to September 24th at the Barrett Centre for Technology Innovation in collaboration with IGNITE and the Longo Centre for Entrepreneurship.

Working in groups alongside prominent mentors from Humber College, students brainstormed innovative solutions for challenges revolving around student life and experiences.

The grand prize of the IGNITE Your Future Hackathon was secured by "Let's Roll with SAJAJ" – a team proposing a shuttle service catering to Humber and Guelph-Humber students. The service aimed to provide a reliable and cost-efficient mode of transportation between Humber College campuses and popular nearby destinations.

The IGNITE Your Future Hackathon made a profound impact on its student participants. One student shared, "My experience at IGNITE Your Future Hackathon was great. Usually, I don’t do well with social events but for the first time, I enjoyed participating in this social event organized by IGNITE. Surprisingly, I was able to get out of my comfort zone, socialize and have a good time - which I never really do. I had the opportunity to make friends with the people in my group and enjoyed their company. I also had the opportunity to meet our mentors whom I never thought I would meet. This event was memorable and I also made some great connections.

A huge thank you to all those involved in making this event a resounding success.
