On November 10, the Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) team endeavored to pilot the first-ever Humber College Virtual Career Fair.
Employers from hotels, restaurants, travel organizations, retirement communities, golf clubs, insurance companies, government, law firms, accounting firms, and various other business sectors participated throughout the day. Notable employers included Marriott International, Fairmont Hotels, Contiki Holidays, The Granite Club, Angus Glen, Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment, Baker Tilly, Canada Revenue Agency, Ministry of Labour, Training & Skills Development, Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP, and Desjardins.
Over 1000 students attended the event leveraging online virtual meeting platforms and the Humber Career Connect system to engage directly with employers through one-on-one and group chat sessions.
Through this event, students were able to learn more about different companies, receive coaching, advice, and apply for internships or job opportunities. Several students have already received job offers for winter and summer employment as a result.
Virtual Career Fair Stats:
“Thank you very much for having me on today’s virtual career fair. It was very well organized and certainly a great first experience! A few students have not joined the teams meetings and I wonder if they were having technical issues or aren’t using the busy/offline option properly. I would love to attend the next one!” - Four Seasons Resort and Residences Whistler
“We had a wonderful experience at the Career Fair. Thank you for the opportunity to connect with Humber College students…If you receive any feedback, we’d be happy to hear it in order to improve in future sessions." - Canada Revenue Agency
