Longo Faculty of Business Contributes $50k in Food Donations

Along with the help of colleges and staff, Nichole Bryan sorted through Humber's food inventory and selected items to be used by Chef Keith Hoare and his team to make meals for food banks across the GTA.

Chef Hoare, head of Thistletown Collegiate's culinary program is proud of all the efforts being made to help in this time of crisis. "Our community food banks and shelter system are shouldering a huge burden and the use of these programs has ballooned to unbelievable levels. I'd like to thank Leonard's Produce, Pasquale Brothers, The Chef's Warehouse, Humber College, Branding and Buzzing, Daryl Charanduk, Hilary Grant, Kory Simpson, and Igor Belsky for their donations in helping produce this much-needed food and support."

Since mid-March Chefs John Placko, Joanne Hebert, Charlotte Langley, Joanna Sable, and Keith Hoare have been producing meals for distribution through a variety of food banks and shelters including:

  • Adam House
  • Eden Food for Change
  • Elisa House
  • Ernestine's Women's Shelter
  • Haven on the Queensway
  • Sistering
  • The Mississauga Food Bank
  • Youth Without Shelter
  • Wellington Square - Ministry Meals Foodbank Program

Baking and Pastry Arts Management graduate, Teesha Persaud, along with two others have also recently volunteered to help produce desserts for the relief effort and look forward to contributing to this crucial cause.
