The Longo Centre for Entrepreneurship (CfE) has announced the outcomes of the Experience Ventures Hackathons following its commencement in January.

Teaming up with the Centre for Social Innovation (CSI) and Daily Bread Food Bank, the InnovEAT Challenge tasked students to design solutions to combat food insecurity. Student groups proposed a range of solutions, including a vending machine for nutritious snacks, a policy change to tax food waste, and a mobile app aimed at alleviating food insecurity by boosting employment opportunities.

Furthermore, in collaboration with Golf Ontario and the Professional Golf Management program, the Longo CfE spearheaded efforts to revamp Golf Ontario’s Junior Golf Pathway rankings, aimed at enhancing fairness and efficacy. Student teams showcased their innovative concepts which included a new website, changes to scoring calculations, and the incorporation of new metrics in the ranking system. Using Ontario as a starting point, the student teams looked to change junior golfing standards nationwide.

Congratulations to all the participating students. The Longo CfE will continue to support students as they persist in exploring ideas and translate them into tangible achievements.
