Oscar Gonzalez, Longo Faculty of Business Work-Integrated Learning Placement Advisor, was invited as a guest panellist for the “Real Talk: Navigating Ageism” event, hosted by the University of Toronto on May 17th.
Oscar has maintained strong relationships throughout his network which is how the School of Continuous Studies connected with him and extended the invitation to participate in this event. With his extensive background in supporting young and mature professionals, Oscar brought a wealth of experience on the challenges that these professionals face in the field as well as highlighting the endless opportunities available.
As part of his professional career, Oscar focused on equity and inclusion as an integral part of his approach when working with students and potential employers. Through this panel, which focused on job seekers of all ages, Oscar encouraged the audience to utilize their transferable skills, knowledge and lived experiences as important tools for their job search journeys.
Attendees were given an opportunity to hear from three different panellists with various areas of expertise Allison Venditti, founder of Moms at Work and a Career Coach with over fifteen years of experience in policy and change for companies and individuals, and Barbara Wilson, Owner, and Principal of Thrive Career Consulting and Career Coach at the University of Toronto also joined as panellists.
From newcomers to the country, and experienced professionals looking to have a career change, the panel allowed attendees to explore new strategies and tools that will support them in achieving their goals.
