New Voices and Perspectives
The EDIB Advisory Committee welcomed Professors Sheldon Leiba and Harini De Silva. Their inclusion brings fresh perspectives and voices that promise to enrich future endeavours entering the 2024/2025 Academic Year.
Hiring Initiatives
Members of the EDIB Advisory Committee actively engaged in various hiring initiatives aimed at bolstering inclusivity and diversity. Noteworthy among these efforts was the participation in hiring Dr. Yasmin Razack as the Dean of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging.
Newly Developed Communication Strategy

Collaboration with 2SLGBTQ+ Employee Resource Group
The EDIB Advisory Committee has forged a pioneering collaboration with the 2SLGBTQ+ Employee Resource Group. This partnership aims to assist in promoting the Allies Newsletter and upcoming events directly to faculty and staff, furthering inclusivity and awareness across the campus community.
Improved Utilization of Display Spaces
Through collaborative efforts and creative contributions from dedicated office staff and faculty members, the EDIB Advisory Committee has improved the utilization of display spaces, boards, and cabinets across its offices at the North, Lake, and IGS campuses. This initiative underscores a commitment to maximizing inclusive visual communication throughout the academic community.
Participation in the 'Humber Inspire' Vision for 2030
Various members of the EDIB Advisory Committee were invited to engage in a series of discussions and meetings with Dr. Ann Marie Vaughan, contributing insights to shape the 'Humber Inspire' vision for 2030. These engagements reflect a commitment to influencing strategic initiatives that define Humber's future direction.
Indigenous Teaching and Learning Bundle
The EDIB Advisory Committee has taken a proactive role as a pilot group for the Indigenous Teaching and Learning Bundle 'All Our Relations. This initiative aligns with the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's Call to Action related to education and advances in Indigenous education at Humber.
Participation in the Development of EDIB HLO Mindset Workshops
Members of the EDIB Advisory Committee participated in developing the EDIB HLO Mindset Workshop with Humber’s Innovative Learning, which included a live presentation at Showcase 2024. These workshops define the Humber Learning Outcomes (HLOs) in a teaching context, provide examples of activities and assessments, as well as facilitate discussions on applying these concepts to individual teaching practices.
