On April 1st, St. Lawrence College in Kingston hosted the Ontario Colleges Accounting Case Competition (OCACC) in person, marking the return to an in-person format after four years of virtual competitions.
The OCACC brought together accounting students from across Ontario for a day of intense competition, action learning, and networking. The competition challenged participants' problem-solving skills through a timed case study, and their presentations were evaluated by judges with real-world experience.
Humber College students once again proved their accounting prowess, with two teams securing top positions in this year's OCACC. Joseph Corbeil, Nandita Tulchand, and Parth Chetan Shah claimed the first-place spot, while Ritika Sheetak, Maria Angel, and Ian Firth secured second place. Congratulations to these talented students for their outstanding performance!
A special thanks to the sponsors of the OCACC, CPA Ontario and McGraw-Hill, for their generous assistance as well as the Longo Faculty of Business for their unwavering support of the college's unique accounting programs. As the only college in Ontario with a faculty-resourced drop-in Accounting Centre, well-funded student tutors, and faculty-coached case training, Humber's students are equipped with a real-world perspective, demonstrating its effectiveness in the OCACC results.
