Tell us about yourself.
My Humber journey started in 2022 as a Customer Service Advisor at the International Graduate School. I then moved on to be the Student Services Coordinator at the International Student Centre. Currently, I am very excited to be part of the Longo Faculty of Business as a Placement Advisor. Prior to Humber, I worked in various business settings and have spent seventeen years as an English Language Learning instructor in South Korea, Japan, and Canada. I have taught Business English at Hyundai-Kia, Ernst and Young, and BMW-Chiba and worked as an Oral Proficiency Interviewer for Samsung.
International students aspiring to integrate into the Canadian work culture may encounter cultural obstacles. What strategies can they employ to enhance their professional development and overcome such challenges?
I know from working with international students most of my career life that they have tenacity and resiliency which is very admirable. I would suggest building rapport with colleagues, listening to conversations with an open heart and mind and embrace their new home!
The WIL Team supports students and employer partners in their Work-Integrated Learning journey. Committed, dedicated and professional, they are key contributors to Humber’s Strategic Plan, preparing career-ready citizens and establishing strong, sustainable collaborations with industry, community, international and alumni partners.
