Business School Grad Hits the Ellen DeGeneres Show!

PRESS RELEASE - For Immediate Release (Provided by Jade Jager)

December 4th 2015 10am & 4pm

Brampton Dance Studio Jade's Hip Hop Academy (JHHA pronounced "Jaw") performs on The Ellen DeGeneres Show! JHHA Owner & Artistic Director Jade Jager Clark and eight dancers, ages 8-17, from Jade's Hip Hop Academy were flown out by Ellen to perform on her Dec. 4th show after producers saw their dance video to Missy Elliott's WTF (Where They From) on YouTube!

On Thursday November 12, 2015, Missy Elliott (who hasn't released an album in 10 years) released the brand new track on YouTube. Jumping on the chance to choreograph to one of her favourite musical artists, Jade recorded and uploaded a video to YouTube on Monday November 16. Missy Elliott herself saw and tweeted to her followers on Tuesday November 17! From there, USA TODAY wrote an article about the video, CBC interviewed Jade, the Ellen show called asking her and eight dancers from the video to fly down to Los Angeles to promote Ellen's NEW DANCE OFF APP called "Chosen". Bonus for JHHA was that Ellen's Resident DJ and dancer, tWitch, learned Jade's choreography and joined dancers to perform it with them!

Everything went great except for one thing! Ellen miss introduced us during the live taping, giving the choreography credit to tWitch instead of Jade. Show producers have vowed to correct this via twitter and online.

Incredibly humbled and honoured to be recognized by the Queen of Hip Hop Jade was simply happy with Missy Elliott's tweet of their video. This was the first dance video to her song that Missy tweeted. To be on Ellen has always been a dream and the whole experience still feels quite surreal.

Jade's Hip Hop Academy, which Jade opened at the age of 18, is now celebrating it's 10th Anniversary and the Season could not have gotten off to a better start! Ellen follows a myriad of successful performances including the 2015 Toronto Pan Am/Para Pan Am Games (JHHA performed a total of 15 times during 5 Gold Medal Games in Men's & Women's Basketball, Volleyball & Wheel Chair Basketball) and TIFF (Toronto International Film Festival). Dancers from Jade's Hip Hop Academy helped promote Born To Dance Film from New Zealand, working with stars Stan Walker, Tia Miapi and choreographer Parris Goebel.

JHHA specializes in teaching youth ages 3-19 foundations and technique Hip Hop and Street Dance. Students come from all over southern Ontario to train in JHHA'S acclaimed programs. JHHA has worked hard to raise the profile of authentic Hip Hop Dance among the general public and in the realm of dance studio competitions whom still often confuse the music video commercialized dancing including twerking/hair flipping for the real thing. The Academy has broken barriers proving young people have what it takes to be professional and that hip hop can be regarded as a respectable art form. For more on their incredible journey, achievements, corporations, organizations, Jade and the studio visit the  "NEWS" section of the website. To see more videos of performances visit their YouTube Channel and to keep up with what's next follow them on @jadeshiphopacad.

WHAT'S NEXT? JHHA just released another Dance Video to "HERE" in Tribute to BRAMPTON'S own ALESSIA CARA, which they are still waiting on and hoping Alessia will tweet. Want to watch them Live? They will be performing a 25 minute production at Dance Weekend '16 at Harbourfront Centre Fleck Theatre on Sunday, January 17th at 1 pm.
