The Business School Placement Centre, along with the Supply Chain Management Student Association hosted a Supply Chain Management Grad Panel and Networking Event on October 26, 2016, at the Humber College Lakeshore Campus.
The event was well-attended with over 100 students from Degree, Diploma and Postgraduate programs participating. The event kicked off with a presentation from past President and Board of Director’s member Mark Tinkler from APICS Toronto, a leading association for Supply Chain & Operations Management. He shared information about opportunities for development and networking and discussed current trends within the Supply Chain Management field. Two presentations by John McKenna of McKenna Logistics and Steven Bryce, VP at Reimer Associates followed. Both industry speakers offered insight into their career paths and gave advice to the attendees on what it takes to succeed in the fast-paced and ever-changing Supply Chain Management sector.
The presentation portion of the event concluded with the Graduate Panel discussion. The panel consisted of five Humber College alumni from various Bachelor of Commerce Degree programs speaking about their career paths into the Supply Chain Management field. The Alumni offered valuable information on what students and soon-to-be graduates can expect as part of the workforce, their day-to-day activities and key skills that employers look for. Following a Q & A session, which allowed the students to ask questions of the industry professionals and alumni, the session broke out into a networking event with students and attendees meeting one-on-one.
