February has been impactful, filled with exciting conferences, competitions, and work-integrated learning opportunities as well as celebrations. Our annual Scholarship Celebration, heralds student success while also recognizing the generosity and importance of the donors who provide scholarships to benefit our students. A big thank you to all of our donors for making this such a worthy event.
Congratulations goes out to our Esthetician/Spa Management Lab Tech and Assistants, Jessica, Amber, and Monica for achieving their Dermalogica Expert Certification. Other acknowledgements go out to Culinary Management student, Aida Yahyapour, for recently receiving a scholarship sponsored by the Canadian Hospitality Foundation and Baking and Pastry Arts Management alumna, Stefanie Francavilla, who competed in the IKA Culinary Olympics as part of the Junior Culinary Federation Team Canada and won two gold medals.

Congratulations to 4th-year students in the Bachelor of Commerce Accounting Program for their success in their Accounting Capstone course. This year, the course had the support of CPA Ontario. Tizy Gunaratne, the CPA representative that helped the Accounting Faculty judge the capstone presentations and also provided financial recognition to the student's projects qualifying the first two places.
At the end of March 2019, two teams of students from the Accounting Diploma programs participated in the province-wide Ontario College Accounting Case Competition, hosted this year by Sheridan College.
The Insurance Institute of Canada hosted its annual GTA Convocation at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre on January 24, 2019.
On Tuesday, October 2, 2018 the Business School Placement Centre hosted their annual Employer Appreciation Event at the Humber Lakeshore Campus.
Helping internal and external diploma students pathway to a degree is a critical component of The Business School's Polytechnic vision. As such, we are thrilled to announce that in the last year, 120 diploma students pathwayed to Bachelor of Commerce degrees.
This semester, seven third-, fourth- and fifth-year students from the Business Administration - Accounting diploma program secured accounting positions at the Canada Revenue Agency.
